Despite an odd visit to psychic, Aba Brule, two years ago, Rey is hoping ninth grade brings with it something more befitting his thoughtful nature than his friendship with hip-hop kids James Owens and Huron Anderson. It turns out to be an adventure as he unites with his crush Christy Lane, and has to thwart a conspiracy at school and fight a group of trouble makers called Nadine's Puppies.
