Akiva has spent her whole life on the Golden Isle, a private island off the coast of South Carolina. Citizens of the Isle don’t really fraternize with mainlanders, and for good reason. But when her best friend Naria goes missing after getting involved with a shadowy organization called the Endowment, Akiva is forced to go to the mainland to try and find her. Once there, she finds herself drawn to Hailey, the head of the Endowment’s niece. But as Akiva gets closer to finding Naria, she uncovers secrets about Nana Ama’s past… secrets that might change how she feels about the Golden Isle.
