#2 Kenny Jones
All about Bamboo
Warren Olson This is a great 'Kenny Jones' romp through South East Asia once again closely based on my experiences both as a bloodstock agent and later as a Private detective in the region.
Kenny's pal Pete has gone missing, last seen at a trendy Chiang Mai nightclub.
Boasting of his friends affluence has seen the easy going Aussie kidnapped by a Shan Rebel desperate to flee the Myanmar jungle for a more affluent life of his own. Kenny's contact in the region, the influential Lek, has a right hand man who was a former border patrol chief, and if anyone can find Pete and bring him back alive, its him. In return, Lek asks Kenny to do a simple courier job for him. He has to pick up a Chinese artefact from a contact in Macau and bring it back to Chiang Mai.
What Kenny doesn't know is the artefact has been taken from a Chinese government employee by a Triad Gang.
He now has an elite squad of Red Army commandoes on his tail, under desperate orders to return the age old relic.
He manages to flee Macau by posing as an attendant on a horse transport flight but his troubles are far from over.
The Chinese influence is wide in the region, and a Bangkok official soon corners him at the airport. A horse tranquilizer helps his escape, as he boards the overnight train to Chiang Mai
Meanwhile back in the jungle, Pete is not holding up well, and in desperate need of hospital attention. The Shan rebel leader is anxiously waiting for his ransom money unaware that a former Police chief is hot on his trail.
