Cage’s life has been upended by the tragic loss of Vanessa. It has become clear to him legally there is nothing that the police are going to be able to do about her death. They have no clues to go on and only have their suspicions about who actually was involved in her murder. Cage knows the detective leading the investigation is a good man but has no way of providing him with any proof to aid in the assailant’s apprehension. In his mind he has been forced to admit if there is to be any justice for what has happened to her, it will have to come down to him doing whatever it takes for him to give it to her and he is determined not to let them get away with it without facing a reckoning.
