James Currie I hope that those of you who have read The Scapegoat, enjoyed my little bit of fun.You will know that The Scapegoat was not a true story but one which was based on truth. As I said at the very beginning of that book, it featured people who actually existed aided and abetted by characters conjured up by my over-fertile imagination. Unfortunately, to this day, there are people who insist on perpetuating the nonsense that was written about the Californian affair in 1912. For this, if for nothing else, it is my intention in the following pages to attempt to show you why I think Captain Stanley Lord and the men of the Steam Ship Californian were a shamefully treated. But first, a little bit of history.
