St. Francis of Assisi was an Italian Catholic friar and preacher and founder of the men's Order of Friars Minor and the women’s Order of St. Clare. He also founded the Third Order of Saint Francis for men and women who were not able to live the lives of itinerant preachers adopted by the early members of the Order of Friars Minor or the monastic lives of the Poor Clares. Francis was never ordained to the Catholic priesthood, yet he is one of the most venerated religious figures in history. The Way of the Cross of this eBook includes the method composed by St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226). The reference to Bible passages and the stanzas of the Stabat Mater have been added.
