This is the third part of the author's biography. She founded a Donkey Sanctuary, with 800 to 6,000 donkeys and from 3 to 9 farms, later to be the Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys, which enables children with special needs to enjoy the therapeutic benefits of riding and being with donkeys. Her charity became Britain's fifth largest animal charity. Her work for donkey welfare has been recognised when in June 1992 she was made a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, only the second time such an award has been given. A story that fills you with admiration as you read of the rescues of tormented donkeys some of her more unusual experiences.
