A collection of stories and anecdotes based on the medical profession are recounted "over the hookah" by Doctor William Weymouth. Though divided into about a dozen sections, the present volume is best thought of as a single digressive potpourri, eccentric and sui generis. The fantastic motifs, verbal and visual, include a talking skull, a bibulous cat and turtle, an airborne gondola. The author was a physician (a specialist in uro-genital disease and surgery) as well as a criminal anthropologist. Nearly 175 illustrations provided by C. Everett Johnson.
