The Secret of the Old Salem Desk

An impoverished family scoffs at a son who has artistic talent and when his father catches him drawing, he piles on unpleasant chores. The family owns one treasure, an old Chinese painted lacquer secretary left from a more prosperous ancestor. An antique dealer is avid to buy it, but they're held out so far. Now, other, dishonest, people are after it, too. The artistic dreamer has to face danger, and help his family.
