Parenting Doesn't Have To Be A Job

I remember when I used to teach parenting classes....before I had children. At some point during the class it was inevitable that a parent would raise their hand and ask me, "So, do you have children of your own?" I used to hate the question because of the implication that without my own children I really didn't know what it was really like as a parent. I must admit that I didn't know everything that a parent faces every day, but I understood children. For years I worked in the hospital setting with some of the most disturbed children you could imagine.
