This collection was first published by Poetry Monthly Press in 2005 and has been recently revised. I am told I am old-fashioned, that my poems speak of a bygone age. Perhaps they do, but I prefer to think of them as timeless. One of them, The Dreamtime, is exactly about living in that timeless dream state, a state of conscious creation. When we go within and the heart speaks perhaps it will speak a language that resonates with a time past or perhaps a time future? All I know is that I wrote myself a path out of my own personal darkness and this is meant to be an intimate sharing, not a grandiose one. The title In Remembrance of Future Present is taken from one of the poems in this collection and derives from the sense of timelessness and detachment I felt during the period these poems were written. These were poems written over an intense and sometimes painful period of reflection; written and shared with love they reveal the workings of an inner self in a struggle to break free from a restrictive past. In this new edition, there are many poems that rhyme and also poems that don't; poems that are sentimental and those that are descriptive. At the time of writing I was interested in exploring form and rhyme more than I do now. As a last thought, these poems aim to show honesty and vulnerability together with a musicality that I hope will speak directly.
