After Melissa

When fast-track police detective, Kerry Lake, becomes certain that 13-year-old Melissa Slater can provide information about drugs sales at the local school, she arranges for the girl to establish contact with the notorious drugs tycoon, Titch Raybould. A few hours after Kerry watches Melissa accept a lift in Titch's car, the young girl is found dead and sexually violated. When the body is discovered, Kerry, in a deep state of shock and afraid that she will be blamed for putting the girl at intolerable risk, fails to tell her superiors of her involvement. As the inquiry is launched and the case develops she finds her silence impossible to break. Is she keeping quiet because she fears for her job or is there something about Melissa's death which doesn't ring true? Titch Raybould might be an unscrupulous criminal, but Kerry doesn't believe he would violate a child. While the official investigation drifts, Kerry decides that the only way she can clear herself is secretly, to look into the killing herself.
