Actual typewritten narratives of slaves about slavery from the Federal Writers' Project, 1936-1938. In 2001, the Library of Congress digitized the microfilm of the Works Progress Administration and made the narratives available on their American Memory web site. The pages have been reproduced from the original documents and include the marks of the writers of the time and the inconsistencies of the type. There are books from 15 slave-owning states including Florida.
