Dinerstein humorously writes about the dangers of mud, overflowing rivers and wild animals as well as tracking methods used to locate the number of tigers. The second half of the book focuses on a trip that Dinerstein and biologist, Helen Freeman, made to higher altitudes in search of snow leopards.
