Petite, wisecracking Karen Waverly has been at odds with Jeff Becker since second grade. They avoid each other whenever possible, and at Glenwood High their incompatibility is legendary. — When Karen's mom, a widow, and Jeff's divorced father begin to date, both Karen and Jeff are horrified. Being neighbors is bad enough! Determined to prevent a catastrophe, they become allies in Operation Split--a program devised to keep their parents apart. But Operation Split throws them together a lot, and while the sparks still fly, a friendship grows. When Karen realizes that she's fallen in love with her arch enemy, she panics.
