Diane René Christian The Black Plague (aka- The Black Death & Bubonic Plague) is regarded as one of the most lethal pandemics in history. In Amsterdam, the outbreak lasted from 1663 to 1666. By 1665, over twenty four thousand people, 10% of Amsterdam's population,lost their fight against the disease. Victims of the plague were forced to endure the excruciating decay of their skin even while the person was still very much alive.
'Blackness of the Chest' is the desperate journey of one Dutch child, little Lucia, to secretly procure a magical cure for her suffering mother's 'blackness of the chest'. It is the story of a child's enduring hope even amongst dire odds.
