Anne Powers In Anne Powers’ second historical romance, Maurice Quinn, a merchant seeks security in wealth while his wife seeks happiness in a love affair set in Elizabethan England (c. 1558-1603). Powers transports the reader to Elizabethan England, and brings that magnificent, dramatic period to pulsing life. Quain, a calculating merchant, believes himself impregnable until he meets a lovely lady-in-waiting who has ensnared many men's hearts, but will give hers to only one. Her fortunes become mingled with his in an entanglement of conspiracy which leads them on the high seas and to the great ports of the world. Romance and adventure are set in an authentic historical background. ANNE POWERS SCHWARTZ (March 7, 1913 — July 26, 1987) Anne Powers was born in Cloquet, Minnesota, in 1913.
