The Penguin Anthology of Australian Women's Writing

Australia has a rich tradition of women writers. In 1790 Elizabeth Macarthur wrote letters home while she travelled to Australia; in 1970 Germaine Greer published The Female Eunuch. Many women wrote during the intervening years in every genre, including journalism, autobiography, drama, letters, short stories, travel writing, novels and diaries. Dale Spender has brought together the work of thirty-seven Australian women writers.
