Romulus in Bologna: Die Fresken der Caracci im Palazzo Magnani (Römische Studien der Bibliotheca Hertziana)

English The volume presents the first extensive investigation of friezes of the Palazzo Magnani. Thanks to essential archival research, a precise image of the patrons can be depicted and therefore the historical context of the work is illuminated, whose distinctive Roman theme indicates reverence for the papacy. In the center of the work, then, stands the analysis of the system of decorations as well as the number and content of the images, especially the references between text and image shaped by the literature on emblem depictions. German Der Band bietet die erste umfassende Untersuchung zum Magnani-Fries. Dank gruendlicher Archivstudien kann ein präziseres Bild des Auftraggebers gezeichnet und damit der historische Kontext des Werks beleuchtet wer¡den, dessen ausgeprägt römisches Thema als Reverenz an den Papst zu deuten ist. Im Zentrum der Untersuchung stehen sodann die Analyse des Dekorationssystems sowie der Bilderzählung, insbesondere der von der Emblemliteratur geprägten Bezuege zwischen Text und Bild.
