The Reluctant Knight

Even when his African village is attacked and burned by rebels, the native boy, Azam, does not lose his faith. With the guidance of an old priest and the memory of a special chalice, his belief in Christ in the Eucharist becomes even stronger. This belief leads him to the priesthood and on a journey to the United States. This short story is a prelude to an age-appropriate, brief history about the Catholic men's fraternity called the Knights of Columbus. It also includes puzzles, a maze and vocabulary words. The Reluctant Knight was written to support the Knights with their charitable activities by informing people about some of the services that they perform; services that show the world that they are caring and active members of the Church and the community.
