'London the Sinister Side' was originally intended to be a sourer guide for travelers who take the Tragical History Tours 'Bus Trip To Murder'. However, during the research I found the sect matter so interesting that I felt it may well appeal to the "armchair" audience too. As a result the guide has been written for anyone interested int he darker areas of London's past. The events featured are complete and independent and in the order that the bus travels in London...through the East End, under the Blackwall Tunnel to Woolwich and Greenwich, returning via Tower Bridge to the Temple. Tragical History Tours Limited organized their first tour in 1985. My brother Michael, a former London teacher, was fascinated by the macabre mysteries and murders in his home town. There was no tour company catering for the darker side of London life. After many months research which included visiting haunted houses and pubs, the scenes of the Ripper murders and reading up on poltergeists the Company was finally launched in June. The first bus tour set out into the backstreets of the East End with only two passengers on board! They were on the trail of Jack the Ripper, the Poltergeist of Bethnal Green, and the Phantom Hitch-hiker of Blackwall Tunnel and many more. Since that time the company has rapidly expanded with he help of the excellent Taylor Walker Brewery and we now run every night of the week in summer (except Saturdays) and most nights in Winter. Dare you join us on the Bus or in the safety of your own home on a Trip to Murder in London...The Sinister Side.
