Poetry Face-off 2006

There's no ice in this face-off, but there's excitement just the same! The hottest poets in the country gather for a series of slams. Since 2002, CBC Radio has celebrated Canada's poetic imagination via a series of competitions that commission and showcase new poetry while animating performances through a poetry sports approach. CBC Radio One has become a major player on the Canadian poetic landscape, hosting Poetry Face-Offs across the country. In this 5th annual event, poets from across Canada were commissioned to write poems on the theme irresistible. Fourteen winners were chosen from live performance competitions that were recorded and broadcast on CBC Radio One. The CBC radio listeners then cast their votes for their favourite poem of 2006.
