Why We Forgive - A BYU Women's Conference Address
C. Terry Warner Of all the demands of Christianity, none seems so hard as the requirement that we love our enemies, bless those who curse us, and pray for those who despitefully use us. In this moving talk, C. Terry Warner explores why it is essential that we forgive those who offend us. He explains that to refuse to forgive is to deny the Atonement of Christ and place a limit on His capacity to forgive and heal us. By citing real-life examples Brother Warner also shows that our refusal to extend forgiveness deprives us of the Holy Spirit and the peace that-comes through closure. Conceding that it is not easy to forgive some particularly heinous offenses, he reasons that "Hatred never ceases by hatred, but by love alone is healed.” If you are nursing unresolved anger, the principles discussed on this tape will lead you to the peace and joy that has eluded you.
