But these materials have been extensively reworked, reorganized and updated. In addition there are two largely new chapters, Applied Anthropology (Chapter 13) and The Anthropology of the USA (Chapter 14). I have also written a new brief summary of the history of anthropological theories and included it as an appendix for optional assignment. In writing this book my objective has been to produce a text which is short enough to be used in a one-semester course while remaining both readable and comprehensive. . . .
