Tanith Lee was born in London in 1947. She began writing at the age of nine, and sold her first book, The Dragon Hoard (Macmillan), when she was nineteen. She has since written 21 other books, including Death's Master (DAW), which recently won the British Fantasy Award for Best Novel.
