Enemies Like These

It was, of course, nothing new and certainly no secret to any but the most ignorant of Germans that the culture of anti-Semitism had long since pervaded all elements of their society, not just the officialdom of the armed forces. People who were once business associates, neighbours, friends, and lovers were suddenly ostracised.
