Battle Mage is about Sebastian Trillon, a cadet in his final year of training before final promotion to falcon class. It follows the young man, who is a quiet student with more skill than even he realizes. A wizard's apprentice target's him and bullies him at the school as well as pulling various pranks on him. When he gets his first mission to one of the forts of Southwall, he is almost relieved until he finds that the wizard is on his own trip to the fort. Add a pretty healer's apprentice that has a history with the fire apprentice to the mix and things get heated on the trip as well. Once to the fort, Sebastian finds himself facing nomads, orcs, werewolves and more as the armies of the Dark Emperor occupy the lands north of the wall. Missions into these lands tend to turn into fights and as the story goes the action continues to grow with Sebastian caught right in the middle. His time with wizards also becomes a learning experience for Sebastian. A battle mage's quick magic was developed 150 years earlier with little new magic being created by the generations to follow. Sebastian becomes the first to developed new magic, which leads to new interest in him by his superiors. For a quiet young man just looking to do his duty, this is quite a change. If you like action and enjoy watching a young man grow into the man he's destined to be, you'll like Battle Mage
