Zachary Taylor

Called "Old Rough and Ready", Zachary Taylor was an impressive military general before being elected president. He spent his early career fighting in the War of 1812, but became a true hero during the Indian Wars and the Mexican-American War. His down-to-earth and sincere leadership won him devoted followers, and although he didn't have any political ambitions, he was elected president in 1849."
