Public Radio and Its Fight to Relevance
Danielle Duncan Audiences have unprecedented power of choice and most have opted out of public radio. The nonprofit protections bestowed by Government have removed all checks and balances that would bring with it the tension, motivation, and direction required to innovate into a trusted, vital resource for most Americans. It’s in a tailspin but how far until it hits rock bottom is up to us. We need to reimage the role of nonprofit radio but first we must come to grips with the behaviors behind the business decisions that have made it irrelevant.
